Scams and Fraudulent Registrations

Only verified Bearathon registrations are eligible to participate in race events. Unfortunately, registrations obtained through fraudulent or deceptive means cannot be honored—even if they were purchased unintentionally through a scam or counterfeit account.

Our race directors are aware that unaffiliated individuals and accounts may attempt to sell Bearathon race entries fraudulently. When reported, these incidents are taken seriously and shared with the Baylor Police Department for investigation.How to Register for the Bearathon

There are only two official ways to obtain a Bearathon registration:

1. Purchase directly through the official Bearathon website, which securely redirects participants to Active Network, our trusted third‑party registration provider.
2. Transfer a registration from one participant to another through an Active Network account.

Any registration acquired outside of these processes cannot be verified or accepted.

Official Communications

All official Bearathon communications will come from:

• bearathon@baylor.edu, or
• noreply@awntx3.email.active.com (sent through Active Network)

Emails from any other addresses are not officially affiliated with Bearathon and should be approached with caution.

Payment & Sales Policy

For participant safety, Bearathon never processes registrations via:

• Phone payments
• Zelle, Venmo, Cash App
• Mailed checks or cash
• Any unofficial or third‑party sales method

If the Bearathon website indicates that a race is sold out, we strongly encourage you to be cautious of anyone offering registrations elsewhere. The official Bearathon website is the only trusted source for accurate information and registration availability.

What to Do If You Encounter a Scam

If you come across a questionable or potentially fraudulent registration offer, please forward any details or communications to Bearathon@baylor.edu. We also encourage you to consider filing a report with the Baylor Police Department. Your report helps us identify scams, protect other runners, and work with authorities to address these issues.
